According to recent Health and Safety Executive research, It is estimated that work-related stress, depression or anxiety affected 442, 000 individuals who worked  in 2007/08 in the UK, with a corresponding estimated 13.5 million lost working days due to these work-related conditions.  This represents an average of 30.6 working days lost per affected case and makes stress, depression or anxiety the largest contributor to the overall annual days lost from work-related ill-health.

Our employee counselling services are available to provide assistance to companies wishing to respond to the challenging task of helping employees understand, face and overcome their problems in the work place, resulting in increased efficiency and a decrease in absenteeism, saving substantial sums of money.

The problem areas involved can include personal problems caused by factors such as work place stress , depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship breakdown, anger , rape and sexual abuse issues, domestic violence, drug and alcohol misuse, eating disorders, debt and many others, all of which effect professional performance.

We can also help with work-related problems such as manager/supervisor relationships, bullying and harassment, managing workload, and adjusting to new responsibilities through confidence building strategies. The modern work place is an extremely stressful environment particularly during a recession and a rise in the incidence of stress related illness is an inevitable result.

Counselling is provided on a one to one basis at our counselling suite where we offer a safe confidential environment for your employees to explore their issues and work towards a better understanding of how to overcome their problems. At the conclusion of the course of therapy a report can be provided if needed outlining progress made and making recommendations to support the individual in the work place.  (At the same time keeping client confidentiality within the code of conduct required by the BACP).
